Crescendo Bar

In honour of Johann Jacob von Hartig

The "Crescendo Bar" on the first floor of the Schlosshotel Althörnitz is named in honour of Johann Jacob von Hartig, a talented musician and composer of the 17th century. Johann Jacob von Hartig, son of the castle builder and former mayor of Zittau, was known not only as a musician but also as a conductor and composer who enriched the musical culture of the region. In his time, he was regarded as an excellent musician who composed numerous works that gained recognition both in the region and beyond.

The bar is of historical significance as it is located in a room that still preserves one of the massive wooden ceilings from the time of the castle's construction. This ceiling has been authentically restored and provides a fascinating glimpse into the architecture of the 17th century. It gives guests the feeling that they are sitting under the same roof that once housed Johann Jacob von Hartig and his family.

Particularly unique is the floor of the "Crescendo Bar": through a glass panel in the floor, visitors can enjoy a fascinating view of the original building elements from the 17th century and experience the construction of the castle up close. This feature creates a vibrant connection between the history of the castle and the present experience.

The "Crescendo Bar" is therefore not only a stylish place for a drink but also a historical retreat that highlights the musical past of the castle and the artistic family of Hartig. Guests can quietly enjoy the atmosphere here and be inspired by the history of the house.
