Noack Wedding Suite

The Noack Wedding Suite is dedicated to an extraordinary couple from the Baroque period: Andreas and Anna Maria Noack. Andreas Noack (1648–1701), a wealthy merchant from Bautzen, fell hopelessly in love with Anna Maria Heinrich (1645–1691), who hailed from Zittau. However, Anna Maria did not want to leave her homeland – so Andreas made a decision that shaped their future together: he gave up his original home, moved to Zittau, and built a new life there with her. Their marriage was considered very happy, marked by success, unity, and deep connection.

With great entrepreneurial skill, Noack opened a specerey (a type of drugstore) in Zittau and also traded in linen, which soon brought the couple considerable wealth. Their influence grew, and Andreas Noack was elected to the council of the city of Zittau in 1692. Together, they had an impressive residential and commercial building constructed in the market square. Additionally, they supported the construction of a private prayer room in the church, which is still preserved today as an art historical treasure.

A tribute to a love that knew no bounds

A room full of baroque opulence and symbolism

The Noack wedding suite is a tribute to this extraordinary love story and the baroque lifestyle of the family.

  • Baroque ceiling decoration: Artful stucco ceilings with floral and ornamental elements reminiscent of the magnificent interiors of the Baroque period
  • The colour blue: As a symbol of the Virgin Mary and for happiness in marriage, an elegant shade of blue dominates the colour scheme of the room. The hues reflect the constancy and fidelity that connected Andreas and Anna Maria
  • Italian curtains: Finest, opulent fabrics from Italian manufacture give the suite a special exclusivity. In the Baroque period, sumptuous drapes were not only a sign of wealth but also of sensuality and joy of life
  • Elegant furnishings: High-quality, baroque-inspired furniture and artistic details in gold and silver create an atmosphere of luxury and comfort – just as would befit a wealthy merchant couple in the 17th century
The Noack wedding suite is the ideal retreat for couples who wish to be inspired by history, romance, and opulent design. Here, the past and present merge into a unique experience that reminds one of the power of love.
